Based on Ilyas Zhansugurov’s celebrated poem, the production follows poet and singer Aqan Seri as he mourns Kulager, his beloved racehorse, killed during a race. Director Farkhat Moldaga transforms this story of loss into a meditation on freedom, creativity and those silenced by repression. Featuring music by Steppe Sons, the production brings a classic of Kazakh literature into a bold contemporary theatrical language. Internationally recognised with the Special Award for Stage Innovation at ART-ORDO 2023, Kulager makes its UK debut through Qazaq Seasons.
