Three of Daniel Hahn’s literary translations have been longlisted for the International Booker Prize, and today he turns his attention to translating the work of William Shakespeare. This workshop, drawing from Hahn’s If This Be Magic, explores what reading the Bard’s work in a host of other languages (like Hungarian, Japanese, and Swahili) can tell us about translation, the author, and language itself. Participants don’t need familiarity with any languages besides English. No knowledge of Shakespeare needed.
