Visitor Q
Takashi Miike's outrageously dark black comedy/horror returns for its first UK screening in over a decade, to mark the film's 25th anniversary. Decidedly not for the faint of heart, this seminal work of the Asian Extreme movement of the early 2000s uses a documentary-like aesthetic to riff on Pasolini's Teorema, as an enigmatic stranger (the eponymous Visitor Q) descends on an already deeply disturbed family, seemingly intent on pushing them into ever-increasing depths of depravity. Shot on early digital video for a micro-budget and produced during Miike's annus mirabilis of 2001 alongside Audition and Happiness of the Katakuris.
